Carbon Reduction Policy

Commitment to achieving net zero

Gibbs Laidler consulting LLP is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline emissions footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions.
Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured

Baseline year: 2024 - 2025

Additional details relating to the baseline emissions calculations:
Baseline calculation based on size of the business at the time, emissions intensity was not recorded at the time

Baseline year emissions:
EmissionsTotal (tCO2e)
Scope 1 0.362 tCO2e
Scope 2 2.548 Tco2e
Scope 37.717 Tco2e
Total Emissions 10.627 Tco2e

Current emissions reporting- 1st May 2025 - 30th April 2026

Scope 1 - Direct emissions 0.504 Tonnes Co2e
Scope 2 - Indirect emissions3.54 Tonnes Co2e

Emissions Intensity:

Emissions per £ revenue 0.01 kg tCO2e
Emissions per employee 0.67 tonnes CO2e
Emissions per m2 0.07 tonnes CO2e

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving net zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 11.07tCO2e by 2030 (Based on current emissions intensity). This is a reduction of 25%

Completed carbon reduction initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2024 baseline.

- Reduction of business travel emissions by prioritising virtual meetings.

We are unable to calculate the carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes as the baseline data did not hold sufficient detail based on an emissions intensity standard. However, measures will be in effect when performing the contract.

Future carbon reduction initiatives

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

4.1 Short-Term Actions (Years 1-3)
  • Reduce office energy consumption by switching to LED lighting and optimising heating controls
  • Move to a renewable electricity tariff
  • Further reduce business travel emissions by prioritising virtual meetings
  • Implement a digital-first approach to reduce paper use
  • Introduce a sustainable procurement checklist
  • Extend the lifecycle of IT equipment and ensure responsible recycling
  • Encourage low-carbon commuting (public transport, cycling, car-sharing)
Medium-Term Actions (Years 3-7)
  • Select suppliers with published sustainability commitments
  • Reduce emissions from cloud and digital services by choosing providers with strong Net Zero pathways
  • Formalise a hybrid-working model that minimises unnecessary travel
  • Introduce internal carbon awareness training
  • Improve data collection for Scope 3 categories such as purchased services and waste
Long-Term Actions (Years 7-15)
  • Achieve near-zero emissions from office operations
  • Fully embed sustainability considerations into procurement and client engagement
  • Reduce business travel emissions to the lowest practical level
  • Offset only unavoidable residual emissions using high-quality, UK-recognised schemes
